Modding original maps?
Hey everyone, If you can't tell I am HYPER new to this. So my question is basically; can someone post the file to mod some of the maps that come with Tiberian Sun? I would LOVE to mod "night of the mutants" but I can't find it with FinalSun. I dunno if this is a stupidly easy request or if its impossible but yeah, if it is I would be very appreciative. I figure I'll start learning by modding some of the maps that have already been made. QUICK_EDIT
Download the XCC Utilities and then use XCC Mixer to open multi.mix (i think this mix is on the CD and normally not installed on the HDD)
In this mix you can find and extract mutants.map, which you then can open with FinalSun.
awesome! Cheers! I'm up and modding lol
I do have a few more questions though, is there a tutorial on how to use cameos and the art.ini file? I really just need to learn how to be able to put icons into the side bar. Also, In finalsun you can place the old tiberian dawn flame tanks but in sunedit2k it's no where to be found. Is there anyway that I could get it from finalsun and place it into sunedit or somesuch? QUICK_EDIT
Then again, Art.ini isn't read when applied to a map, so you would need to edit the normal Art.ini file, creating the entries you want to use.
Damn, I didn't touch the inis for years... :S _________________
So, yeah, I've created a new acc. 'cause no one could remember Ordosherrscher - and I didn't like that name anyway. QUICK_EDIT
I've had the displeasure of using it for my early mods and... it just messed up the entire rules.ini. Now, all that's required for ini editing is Notepad.
If you want to add the TD Flametank to your unit lineup, please refer to the "Newbie Guide to Modding" and check the "Creating a new unit" link. The unit name is "FTNK" however it's not listed in art.ini but artfs.ini. If you have the Firestorm expansion, good for you. If not, you can add that unit to your vanilla TS. the art.ini code you'll need is:
If you're looking for the TD Flametank voxel, open up XCC Mixer, then go to TIBSUN.MIX -> local.mix. Extract "ftnk.vxl" and~ voila! You now have a working voxel file for editing! QUICK_EDIT
