These screenshots, the most publically recognized out of all the screenshots in this archive, are from the first media release in April 2000.  First spread by magazines and advertisements, these were more publicized by the internet, a growing media for Westwood Studios at the time.  They were originally found on Westwoodstudios.com.

Notable differences between these and the next set made available are the longer shadows, the more vibrant colors, and the cartoony explosions. Also different is the more TS-Esque snow, with softer details and a more realistic appearance.  However, the softness might be a result of JPEG compression, however, being universal across all screenshots this is doubtful.

The first two screen shots i remember like anything, i always wanted that Tesla Coil and "Paris Tower" in the final game, such nice and sharp design.

Some of this stuff is very cool and I've always wanted to have pre-allied wall and pre-tesla coil in RA2...

The reason why they scrapped these pre-release structures and used worse ones is beyond me... Pre-release stuff looks much better...

Doesn't really make much a difference as everything in the game is just static frames anyway. They should have easily been able to use the designs.

Not much of it is.

The screens in my collection are almost completely free of tampering. The only real possible offender is the muzzle flash effect in some of the earliest ones.
