Tool suggestion: map lighting preview
Lighting a map is always a long process, if you want to do it well. It adds atmosphere, and enhances the overall setting. Mappers that want to go above and beyond, we like to tweak the individual lamp posts, maybe make a few new ones. Even a rookie will expirament with Ambient light values. However, each thing you change can only be seen by opening the game, loading the map, and making adjustments based on what you see. Maybe this process can be streamlined..
I wanted to see if there was a tool that could be made to show the color of lamp posts, and ambient lighting on a small mockup scenario. Perhaps a window with a few cliffs, greens, a civilian building (affected by the lighting), and a military building (not affected by lighting).
Additional features might include Infantry lighing, or static alphalight images.
Wasn't the map renderer supporting already a good approximation of the ingame lighting? _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
Map renderer never worked for my TS maps. The quickest way to check lighting atm is have the map open in notepad, edit the lighting values whilst the map is loaded in a running TS and restart the map. Bit of a faff around but least you don't have to close out the game. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
