We noticed while testing Crystallized Doom that our units get veterancy when they kill their own people. I don't know how this got possible, but I guess it's one of those EXE hacks.

I haven't found out which exact hack/or combination of them does this, but once I find out I will write it here.

Did anyone else noticed this too?

From what I know this happens even in original TS.

Play as Nod
Build a Reaper
Force fire with many tanks and other units on a single cell
Move the Reaper on that cell
->watch how the Reaper dies and then gives all the firing units veteran and elite status (know issue due to the Reaper death anim, during which every hit counts as a kill and thus promotes units very quick)

In TS you might also not have noticed it due to the ridiculously high VeteranRatio. It's extremely rare that a unit stays long enough alive so it can manage to kill 10 times its own cost to become veteran.
Though you could build a minigunner and let him kill 2 of your engineers to get him veteran.

Yeah, this is an annoying problem which is why we abolished death animations in TI. Shame.

Yeah VeranRatio 10 was really stupid. I changed it to 3. So my Nod Rookies can promote really fast, as they are only 50$ worth, giving those who survive some sort of value.

I never noticed that with Disruptors and the Reapers Shocked looks like I still find stuff I didn't knew over the years.

Shame Disrupters gain a suicide explosion when reaching elite rank, making them very dangerous. Found out the hard way during the GDI Firestorm campaign when I lost many Disruptors due to an elite Dizzy exploding in the group #Tongue

Don't worry, Graion is helping me and I got a lot of other people too what are working on this mod. Some of "The Rise of the Reds" voice actors joined me too.

Crystallized Doom is going trough a good rework ATM. Be it quality, balancing or content. It will be a very fun to play mod Smile
