Hi. I found an interesting TS beta picture, dont know how rare it is but it wasnt posted on http://cnc-comm.com/ nor on cnc wiki. What really got my attention is the subterranean APC icon, never seen any other official Nod APC icon like this before. So I thought Ill share it with you.

interesting find.

wow, the lighting. definitely not the blocky ingame tiled lighting.
the smoke effects look cool, unfortunately completely photoshopped.

Yup, that is unfortunatelly the only screenshot that shows the old beta icon. I recall seeing a less blurry one somewhere, though...

I can never understand why they switched those icons to the ones they used on the release version. Those look so much cooler.

Pretty much all of that screenshot is compiled in Photoshop, So you cant take everything you see as "Beta".

Guessing it was scrapped because of the same issues i encountered when modeling it for Rewire.

That smoke is entirely photoshopped; it never was in the game.

this smoke was never in.
It is entirely drawn with photoshop.
The engine is unable to give SHPs such smooth fade into transparent.

It also looks to me just like an early draft for the GDI PP (despite the text Nod Powerplant in the pic). At least it's not very different

Not sure, it just looked strange, could not figure out why.
Actually it is the Nod PP, the GDI PP was already modeled and ingame when this UI and those cameos were made and long before that, even when TS still used the RA1 UI.

So instead of transfering the upgradable Nod power plant desing to GDI, they had two nearly identical designs for both sides? It would make sense, considering the factions shared the power plant design in TD. It's just not very creative.

Probably because in the isomentric/perspective view on the sketch, the cooling tower is drawn with a different "camera" angle than the rest of the building, thus proportions are hard to measure.
But other than that the design would be perfectly fine doable as SHP.

Actually if you look at the green lighting on the left corner you can see direct cut line so nope, still same tiled lighting system Smile
