Is there a way to import custom backgrounds into OSVV to use as scenes?

Yes. All OS:VV does it to read jpeg files. A sky has 6 images at the directory /Textures/Sky/

Follow the standard when naming your sky images:

%templatename%_@@.jpg

Where @@ stands for:

bk - Back
ft - Front
dn - Down
up - Up
lf - Left
rt - Right
