Federation of Calistania: Origins

Located in the western hemisphere of the planet Therum, the Federation is a religious coalition of four major (Arisban, West Sanctum, East Sanctum and Cruentia) countries located on the continent of Calistan. These four countries still believe in rank-and-file warfare, preferring simple brute force over more complex tactics. While technologically outmatched, they have held their own with force, numbers and sheer dedication to the cause. The capitol city, Norde Calista, is located in West Sanctum, about 50km from the western coastline of the continent. Citizens of the Federation generally live a simple life on Therum, but find it hard to survive at times on Terra Nova. Without the support of any major corporations, citizens must rely on State-run and built services, which are generally rudimentary, not sophisticated, and cheaply built. The government is a representative democracy, checked by a military council and Cardinal of the Church. Each nation has representatives based on population, to max at 12 representatives. Currently, Arisban has 7 representatives, while Cruentia has 10, East Sanctum has 5, and West Sanctum has 12. The war council consists of the two top commanders from each nation. The Cardinal of the Church regulates all religious activity in Calistania and believe the Novus Ordo is an abomination. The Federation of Calistania is currently engaged in territorial with the Conglomerate following the colonization of Terra Nova, and are attempting to systematically eradicate the Novus Ordo in a Holy Crusade in the name of Titus. There is much talk amongst the civilian population that the Federation may be falling apart soon if the nations do not adapt to new ways. While the Federation Government is actively tied to the war on Terra Nova, most citizens of Therum remain for the most part unaffected by the war on Terra Nova. Although the Federation’s military is for the most part voluntary, talks of a mandatory draft are on the table, as recruitment has fallen to a record low on Therum.
