I would like to ask for any recommendation how to operate with mix files for mods in effective way.
My issue is that sometimes my mix files get corrupted when I add new files.

Is there any limit how many files or size can be in mix files before it gets corrupted?
Has anyone any recommended way how often do I have to replace previous ones with new mix files?

Currently one of my mix files works fine, but as soon as I drop new file inside, it will get corrupted.

Any help appreciated.

(I am using XCC Mixer)

I never had mix errors. What I do is:
- keep folder names same as mix filenames in a mod folder like ecache02 or expand02 and have the mod content in those folders.
- keep a base folder which contains the empty mix files created with XCC Mixer like ecache02.mix.
- copy the empty mix file from the base folder to the game folder overwriting existing mix file.
- open the empty mix file in the game folder with XCC Mixer. Drag and drop files into it.

Adding or deleting from mix files are the main reason for corruption.

using XCC Mixer
I always simply delete the entire content from a mix. Then it's as fresh as a new mix.
Then same as E1, I add all the files again from a folder with the same name as the mix.
Had this way no mix error in years.

Thanks for help.

Also regards to "Compact" option, is it a "must" when adding files or does it have advatages/disadvantage at all?

Don't use compact. Just drag and drop and leave it.
