How to get FD on its feet again
Subject description: Ideas
I think most of the reason why FD has flopped is because it's just become so disorganized at this point. It looks like too much of a tangle for anyone to want to do anything with.
I think what would be good for this, is something like a 'new beginning' in a structure that is reformed and better organized.
Clean the entire FD forum...delete all the useless garbage from the past 5 years, and all of the work that's worth keeping, carry it over.
Organize it into sub-forums, maybe something like:
Voxels: -(locked-sticky) FD voxel list
-voxel submissions in individual threads
SHP: --(locked-sticky) FD shp unit list
-(locked-sticky) FD buildings list
-(locked-sticky) FD terrain..
-shp submissions in individual threads
Ideas: -(locked-sticky) ideas to be used in FD
-All ideas discussed here
Applications: -(locked-sticky) list of things FD needs..
-(locked-sticky) Member list: people affirmed to be in the mod, and their jobs
-applications here in individual threads
Here you can apply to contibute to the mod. etc. etc..
All the things in the "lock-sticky's" will be the things affirmed to be put in the mod, (contolled by whoever is leading the mod). the rest will be in individual threads (with a poll or something perhaps, on whether or not they should be used)
Summer is coming, which would give a great opportunity to resurrect this mod. Especially now that there's new modding tools out, new exe hacking knowledge, and a ton of amazing and experienced modders. I have to admit that my motivation to continue FD is a bit more than 0%, but not much. I want to finish it, but I'm waiting for a more stable version of Extended Tiberian Sun and some better tools. QUICK_EDIT

Something's up. Banshee is openly admitting that FD is nearly dead, and his uber secret manner of the MCV secret, something we all desired for years was openly told with no big announcement.
I believe Banshee's abandoning TS for TW. For shame. _________________

How observant you are. Ultimately, Banshee does a lot of work around the community doing different things (remember, he organised all the OMCs) and webmasters and helps at different places, Revora in particular. On top of that, he's at university and is also working on various tools for modding in the C&C community. I can't blame him for Final Dawn taking second billing to everything else.

I don't really think abandoning TS for TW is something really shameful.
Even RA2 has more to offer than TS, although TS is a great game and I still play it till today. _________________ If the world didn't suck, we'd all fall into space... QUICK_EDIT

Maybe it should just be officially ditched then, and all of the work be made available to the public (as if they were individual submissions - voxes in the voxel forum, shp in the shp forum etc.)

It won't be officially ditched. I'm just waiting either ETS to get a bit better, at least towards new factions or the mod SDK for C&C3, although this last one should be heavly analysed before I decide to change the engine. QUICK_EDIT

And quite honestly, ETS doesn't really need 60 new SW variants that we might could have emulated ourselves. What it needs to address is the serious TS modding flaws, such as MCV hardcoding, 3rd and 4th sides, and a few other hardcoded issues we face while modding TS. _________________

The SW job done on it is awesome. We can now have unlimited superweapons, which is great! Specially for mods with multiples factions. While the MCV limitations can be bypassed, it creates a big mess and it's hard to deal with rules.ini using that technique. QUICK_EDIT
But Banshee is look really "bad" for this mod to be finish. U have work on this a lot. And mods some have better "gfx" are realest U know what i mean? _________________ Can you hide from me ? QUICK_EDIT
