Advances made using information retrieved from the Tacitus have once again opened the world's shipping lanes, with the threat of Tiberium Algae being reduced, warships are making an appearance yet again.

GDI Naval Information

Name: Mako Submarine
Role: Defensive Ship
Armament:
-2 "Guardian" Torpedo Tubes

GDI prefers to nowadays follow the influence of the former Soviet naval doctrine. Rather than relying on ships, GDI prefer to use submarines to guard their water-ways and larger vessels. Armed with twin torpedo launchers, the Mako can make light work of any enemy ship.

Name: Barracuda Submarine
Role: Anti-Air Ship
Armament:
-1 Twin-Linked "Sky-Writer" Turbo Cannons

The Barracuda is the scourge of the skies, providing a deadly anti-air cover for all the GDI fleet. The Barracuda sits just below the top of the water so it may surface quickly, meaning many Nod pilots do not see this it until it is too late. The Sky-Writer gun rips enemy fighters out of the sky in seconds, leading to the nick-name "The Reaper". The Barracuda however lacks any other armament meaning it must be supported by Makos.

Name: Aeneas Cruiser
Role: Heavy Support
Armament:
-1 150mm Light Battery
Deployed:
-3 150mm Heavy Batteries

A monster in the water - the Aeneas is the king of the seas. Armed with a monstrous 150mm cannon it is capable to going toe-to-toe with competing Nod vessels, but it's true power lies in it's ability to anchor itself to fire it's heavy cannons. When anchored, the Aeneas becomes a juggernaught of death, bringing it's three 150mm cannons to bear against enemy targets. It however vulnerable in this state as it cannot target ships that get in under it's guns or aircraft and must be protected by other vessels.

Do the submarines actually sink and go to the surface when firing?

GDI subs. Very interesting. Curiously, it's also a lot more realistic.

Nod has the tech, but they don't have the funds and facilities to make submarines.

It always made more sense for me to have GDI subs, although they are more sneaky etc. and kinda Nodish, they are one of the primary vessels of modern fleets.

@TiberFCSL they are just stealth due to engine limits but the effect is the same.

Nod Financial Data wrote:
Economic Strength: Considerable assets believed to be in excess of US $255.2 billion, based on audits of seized financial records (see CIA docket 3231.54776-FIA). Economic strength stems from near-monopoly of Tiberium harvesting in the late 20th century as well as cult-like money seizure and money laundering with Russian, Cuban, Columbian and various other mafia Cartels.

Note "late 20th century". If this is set after TS then it's far in the future and things have changed. Nod is no longer seen as almost a corporate entity with terrorist ties, it's more a fanatical religious group and I presume losing two wars has made it's mark. Also as Tiberium harvesting has been around for like 30 years I'm sure Nod no longer have the monopoly.

Indeed losing two wars and having a major civil war have taken a heavy toll.
