Mammoth Tank

The M66 Mammoth Tank is a controversial vehicle in the GDI arsenal. Described by many as a "mammoth waste of tax payer money" the M66 has never the less proven to be a very valuable offensive and defensive weapon system. It sports two 120mm cannons and two twin "Mammoth Tusk" specially modified TOW missiles, deterring combatants who are easily shaken and eliminating those foolish enough to engage it. It is not without weakness, however, and its high cost prevents GDI from fielding it in great numbers.

Nice looking voxel! I'm curious as to how it looks inside of the game that it will be played on.

Are the design changes done deliberately, thus naming it M66 and not X66?
The voxel is really nice, but the design is imo a tad too bulky/boxy looking now.
e.g. the chassis could be 1-2 voxel lower, the turret could become narrower to the rear.

Gangster got the name change right. The Mammoth Tank was dubbed the X-66 during its experimental phases. Now that it is in production, it is called the M-66, just like very other vehicle in the U.N. The M1 Abrams started out as the X-1, etc. The numbers usually coincide with the X version of the vehicle, but not always.

As for the size, I am using modified proportions from Renegade and various other reference materials. I also changed the design a tad bit to make it look more 'realistic'.

The change in the rear of the turret reflects a more realistic representation of ammunition carriage blow off systems that are present on most modern tanks. The 120mm guns now have muzzle brakes, and the rocket launchers are now more like the Bradley Fighting Vehicle TOW launchers. I did have a design that had more original rocket launchers with doors on the front that swung open but it looked really weird and cartoonish to the EXTREME!

I've read what you commented and I'm impressed, the changes are very nice and the voxel too!

I really like how this looks, the other tanks seem tiny compared to this. Reminds me of the Baneblade from DOW for some reason.

The proportions in Renegade are stupid big. This thing swallows a medium tank between its treads. I may be forced to scale it down more.
