Not sure if anyone here can help me on this. This place is not as active as I remember it.
Anyway,
I added a new unit to TW, a copy of the orca, but configured as a gunship. Initially I finalized the model and behavior as a stock Orca and it worked perfectly. However after I made it a separate unit to serve alongside the original Orca, the ground icon circle that shows where it would sit if it landed, is not showing. Otherwise it performs identical to the other Orca. I’m not sure how that cursor is regulated in the game. I’ve compared the stock xml to the custom orca xml and they match except for the units name and weapons. I have to be missing a step here.

Also, I downloaded a mod of the Sandstorm, supposedly ready to run out of the box in TW. It’s comes out invisible. I havent had time to troubleshoot it yet but I know it has to be either missing textures or the shaders are not TWs. My other question is, is changing the shaders in Max the only option to make it visible in game?

You need to make a copy of the 'GDIOrca' experience template, and in all instances of word 'GDIOrca' you need to replace it with whatever your new gun Orca's GameObject id is.

You can edit the shader information of a .w3x using a text editor.
