Though the map editor is set up as a grid, is there a way to disable this so that you can place objects freely  and not locked to the grid ?

In the map editor one of the houses is labeled JP, what is this and how does it differ from the other houses ?

Objects are placed on cells, so the objects are aligned to a cell. Only infantries can be placed more than one in a cell.

Civilian is Neutral and JP is Special, FA2 labels it like that.

"Neutral" and "Special" are used in FinalSun, in FinalAlert 2 YR they use "Civilian" and "JP".
