Happy birthday to PPM! 26 years old!
Subject description: PPM lives!
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome! We are glad to announce that we are 26 years old today, September 30th. Our main mission throughout the year was to remain alive, and we are still alive! And it has been tough to do in the age of agentic AI and bloody expensive hardware. Forum software was not made to handle the kind of traffic from bots, crawlers, AI agents, and whatever more we have today. We are not the only ones to suffer from this plague. Even Google is asking me if I am a human just to get the results these days. But we survived; we fought hard and even inspired the rest of the server hostees to do the same. The fact is that browsing PPM today is far more comfortable than it was one year ago (which was mostly unbrowsable). Is there a better birthday gift than having a good community to browse and share your thoughts? That's what we can offer for now. The server still occasionally crashes due to heavy disk usage, but these crashes happen less frequently. If it happens for you, just wait a few bits for a PHP restart.
When we started, 26 years ago, most of our visitors were actually humans. Our start was as a group of people who got together to create a mod for Tiberian Sun called PPM: Final Dawn. We have seen many things being released here, except PPM: Final Dawn. Don't worry, one day, it's still in our plans.
And finally, the most awaited moment of this news post: our birthday cake....
A bot-themed cake taken from here, afterall, the fight was tough!
